If you're planning to hit the ATM, mail a package, or check your portfolio on Christmas Day, you might want to adjust those plans. Thursday, December 25, brings the usual mix of closures and limited operations across the country.

The Shutdown List
Federal and financial institutions are taking the day off. Banks will be closed, post offices won't be processing mail, and the stock market is dark—both the NYSE and Nasdaq will pause trading for the holiday.
Shipping fans should also take note: United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) and FedEx Corp. (FDX) are suspending their standard pickup and delivery services. So if you're waiting on a last-minute package, it's probably not arriving on Christmas.
The retail world is largely shutting down too, with major chains giving their employees a well-deserved break. Walmart Inc. (WMT), Target Corp. (TGT), Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST), Macy's Inc. (M), and Kohl's Corp. (KSS) will all keep their doors closed on Christmas Day.
What's Actually Open?
Need something urgently? You're not completely out of luck. Select pharmacy locations including CVS Health Corp. (CVS) and Walgreens will be operating on Christmas, though shoppers should definitely call ahead to confirm local store hours. Even if the store itself is open, pharmacy counters might be closed—so verify before you make the trip.
7-Eleven stores will also be open, though they're running on adjusted hours.
Back to Business
Normal operations resume Friday, November 28. Banks and post offices will reopen for regular service, and the stock market will be back to standard trading hours. So enjoy the break while it lasts.
