The results apparently checked out, giving the company confidence to push forward with commercialization plans.

How It Works

The ALIP uses electromagnetic force to move heat-transfer fluids rather than relying on traditional mechanical parts. That's a big deal for molten-salt and liquid-metal reactor designs, where conventional pumps would struggle with corrosion and wear.

The no-moving-parts approach promises improved reliability and longer operating life, which translates to lower maintenance costs and fewer failure points in critical nuclear infrastructure.

NANO Nuclear partnered with aRoboticsCompany on fabrication and testing work during this phase. The data collected will inform magnetic-field optimization efforts and guide future design decisions, including potential use of advanced materials and modified geometries.

"The completion of this comprehensive testing phase validates the ALIP system's core design and durability," said James Walker, the company's chief executive. He noted the findings confirm performance improvements from earlier design updates and clear the path toward pre-commercial activities.

The firm also verified its supporting manufacturing systems, including orbital laser welding and high-resolution magnetic-field mapping. These processes are designed to ensure consistent, repeatable performance across multiple pump units as production scales up.

NANO Nuclear plans to pursue the next stage of its commercialization program, positioning ALIP as a zero-maintenance solution for molten-metal pumping applications across various extreme-environment industries.
