Palantir Technologies Inc. (PLTR) is having a busy week expanding its AI platform into two very different industries: aircraft engines and British healthcare. The dual announcements reveal how the software company is methodically pushing its tools into sectors where data complexity meets operational urgency.
The bigger headline is a long-term partnership with FTAI Aviation Ltd. (FTAI), which operates a global network of aircraft engine maintenance facilities. FTAI will deploy Palantir's Artificial Intelligence Platform across its operations to streamline production schedules, improve internal parts management, and automate repetitive tasks that currently slow down repair cycles.
For an industry where every day an engine sits idle costs airlines money, faster turnarounds matter. FTAI's COO David Moreno said the company's Maintenance, Repair, and Exchange program already uses technology heavily, but adding Palantir's tools should help push turnaround times down further. The goal is ambitious: FTAI wants to capture 25% of the market, and early tests at its facilities suggest the AI platform can help them scale without sacrificing speed.
Ted Mabrey, who leads commercial operations at Palantir, framed the deal as proof that AI-driven decision-making tools can handle large industrial workflows. He believes pairing Palantir's software with FTAI's maintenance strategy could fundamentally change how the engine lessor operates in the aftermarket.
