Pritzker Dismisses Trump's Insults
On Wednesday, in a post on X, Pritzker wrote, "People have asked me what's given me the courage to stand up to Donald Trump."
He added, "The answer is this: I'm happy to be something they jeer because I've seen what they choose to cheer."
In the accompanying video, Pritzker addressed questions about whether insults from the White House concerned him.
"They've asked me if I worry about the insults that are flung my way by the Oval Office," he said.
"Well, the answer is I don't worry about it at all," Pritzker added.
Pritzker Repeatedly Criticized Trump
Previously, Pritzker criticized Trump's economic record, saying inflation and high prices had persisted despite his campaign promises.
He also accused the White House of promoting racism and cruelty, urging leaders to show empathy toward vulnerable communities.
Pritzker also criticized Trump's spending priorities, accusing him of opposing funding for Medicaid and SNAP while seeking money for projects such as a White House ballroom, an "Arc de Trump" and a helipad.
Additionally, Pritzker criticized Trump over the Iran war, saying Americans struggled with rising gas and grocery costs while the president described the conflict as an "investment" in America's future.
Democrats Scored Major Midterm Victories
Democrats secured key Senate victories, with Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) winning reelection in Georgia, former Gov. Roy Cooper (D) defeating Michael Whatley in North Carolina and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) retaining his Virginia seat.
They also scored major gubernatorial wins as Gina Hinojosa (D) defeated Greg Abbott (R) in Texas, Amy Acton (D) beat Vivek Ramaswamy (R) in Ohio, and Pritzker secured a third term in Illinois.
Keisha Lance Bottoms (D) won Georgia's governorship and Deb Haaland (D) won New Mexico, while Republicans retained Florida. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) maintained a lead over Andy Biggs (R), though the race remained uncalled.
GOP Leaders Reacted to Midterm Losses
Vice President JD Vance blamed the Iran war and rising living costs for Republicans' midterm losses, urging the party to refocus on "America First," inflation and affordability.
He also called for an end to the war and a change in the U.S. relationship with Israel as he sought to rally disillusioned Trump supporters.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Mike Johnson pledged to double down on the conservative agenda and reclaim the House in 2028.
Trump blamed his absence from the ballot for the GOP's losses, insisting, "We would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!"
