The Road to 2028
Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket currently gives Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.), who won reelection in Georgia, an 18% chance of becoming the next U.S. president, broadly unchanged over the last 24 hours.
Over the same period, the odds of Vice President J.D. Vance succeeding Donald Trump as president increased from 11% to 17%.
Last month, Vance told CBS News he remains undecided about a 2028 presidential run, adding, "anything can happen."
Will Harris Run for President Again?
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who won re-election for New York's 14th Congressional District, trailed Vance with 13% odds. California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Secretary of State Marco Rubio each had an 8% chance.
Kamala Harris, the unsuccessful 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, had only 3% odds as of this writing.
In September, Newsom said he would not run if Harris entered the race, warning that a contest between them could amount to "mutual assured destruction."
Over $732 million has already been wagered on the outcome, which will be decided on Nov. 7, 2028. Trump is ineligible to run for a third term.
Dems Take Control of Congress
Democrats won control of both the Senate and House, securing victories in several traditionally Republican areas in a major setback for President Donald Trump and the GOP.
Trump acknowledged that the Iran conflict contributed to Republican losses but maintained that he had no regrets about launching the military campaign earlier this year.
