Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) announced Monday the launch of European Credit Company (ECC), a lending platform with more than 10 billion euros in financing capacity to support businesses and infrastructure projects across Europe.
Think of it as a giant checkbook for European companies that need capital but might not want to deal with the traditional banking route. ECC will focus on corporate and asset-backed lending, serving large and midsize companies, private equity sponsors and real estate owners.
The platform is backed by Apollo funds and affiliates, alongside Abu Dhabi Investment Council, Athora, Norinchukin Bank, Standard Chartered and Aranda Principal Strategies. That's a heavyweight lineup of institutional backers putting their money behind Apollo's European ambitions.
Led by CEO Giacomo Petrobelli and Chairman Christian Meissner, ECC aims to address rising financing demand across Europe's energy, defense and infrastructure sectors. Those are three areas where capital needs have been climbing, and Apollo clearly sees an opening.
The company currently operates in Frankfurt, Jersey, London, Luxembourg City and Milan, with plans to expand into additional European markets. So this isn't a toe-dip. It's a full buildout.
Apollo managed approximately $1.05 trillion in assets as of June 30, 2026. For context, that's a lot of zeroes, and it gives the firm plenty of firepower to back a platform like ECC.
SpaceX and Mubadala Add to Recent Deal Activity
Apollo's latest launch follows a roughly $40 billion financing commitment involving Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s (NASDAQ:SPCX) AI chip purchases. The deal is expected to close by year-end, with some financing costs potentially reaching 8.75%.
Apollo also announced a strategic minority investment in Mubadala Capital, with investors expected to commit a combined $5 billion at the initial close.
So yeah, Apollo has been busy. The ECC launch is just the latest in a string of moves that show the firm is not sitting still.
APO Technical Setup
Apollo is showing a bearish technical setup, with the stock trading below its 20-day, 50-day, 100-day and 200-day simple moving averages.
The RSI stands at 48.41, signaling neutral momentum, while the MACD remains above its signal line, pointing to some near-term bullish momentum despite the broader weakness.
A death cross formed in October after the 50-day SMA fell below the 200-day SMA, reinforcing the bearish intermediate-term trend.
Apollo shares have declined 6.54% over the past 12 months. Overall, the moving averages remain bearish, while neutral RSI and positive MACD suggest mixed near-term momentum.
