Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) stock rose nearly 3% in premarket trading Monday as investors returned to technology stocks amid improving market sentiment.
Nasdaq futures gained 1.18%, while S&P 500 futures climbed 0.56%, supporting a broader rebound in semiconductor stocks.
However, Broadcom remains below several key moving averages. This suggests Monday's advance could be a short-term rebound rather than the start of a sustained rally.
Investors will watch whether buying momentum continues after the opening bell.
Technical Analysis: Bearish Signals Persist
Despite Monday's gains, Broadcom continues to trade below its major moving averages.
The stock remains 4.9% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA), 7.6% below its 50-day SMA, 11.2% below its 100-day SMA and 8.2% below its 200-day SMA.
These levels suggest that sellers still hold the upper hand.
Broadcom also formed a bearish "death cross" in October when its 50-day SMA fell below its 200-day SMA. Traders often view this pattern as a warning of further weakness.
Meanwhile, the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicator remains below its signal line. The negative histogram also points to weak momentum.
The stock faces immediate resistance near $366.50, close to its 50-day SMA of $365.73. A sustained move above this level could strengthen the recovery.
On the downside, $336 remains a key support level. A break below it could trigger additional selling.
IDC Highlights Broadcom's Private AI Cloud Strategy
Separately, an October report from International Data Corporation (IDC) highlighted Broadcom's efforts to strengthen its position in enterprise AI through VMware Private AI Cloud, which combines AI infrastructure, data management and security tools.
The platform aims to help businesses deploy AI agents while maintaining control over sensitive data, access permissions and security policies.
Broadcom has introduced AgentMinder, a security platform that monitors and controls AI agent activity. It also expanded VMware Tanzu Platform with AI-ready data tools and plans to introduce VMware AI Factory to simplify AI infrastructure deployment and improve GPU utilization.
IDC expects the AI-related segment of the platform-as-a-service market to grow at a compound annual rate of 58.9% through 2030, highlighting a significant growth opportunity for Broadcom's software business.
However, IDC cautioned that enterprises must assess potential security gaps, vendor dependence and the ability to move workloads between cloud environments.
The research firm also noted that Broadcom's claims about AgentMinder's effectiveness remain untested outside the company's environment, while some infrastructure capabilities are still awaiting release.
The findings highlight Broadcom's opportunity to expand beyond AI chips into enterprise AI software, although execution and customer adoption will remain critical.
