SciSparc Ltd. (NASDAQ: SPRC) stock jumped more than 18% Thursday after the company announced a strategic shift toward agentic artificial intelligence technologies, with a focus on cybersecurity and financial applications.
The move marks a potential expansion beyond the company's existing pharmaceutical business as it explores opportunities in the growing AI market.
Trading activity surged alongside the stock's rally. Nearly 29.94 million shares changed hands Thursday, about 172 times the 100-day average volume of 174,561 shares.
With a market capitalization of just $2.29 million at the previous close, SciSparc is a micro-cap stock. Its small size and unusually heavy trading volume highlight the potential for sharp price swings and heightened volatility.
SciSparc Expands Focus To AI And Cybersecurity
On Thursday, SciSparc announced plans to evaluate technologies, companies and business opportunities across the agentic AI sector.
The company aims to identify potential applications in cybersecurity and financial technology. However, it has not announced any acquisitions, partnerships or commercial agreements tied to the strategy.
The announcement builds on SciSparc's July 27 decision to pursue opportunities in agentic AI.
On Aug. 26, the company established a scientific advisory board focused on AI and cybersecurity to support its expansion into these areas.
SciSparc said it will continue evaluating potential investments and business opportunities. However, it cautioned that these efforts may not lead to transactions, commercial agreements or revenue.
SciSparc's Existing Pharmaceutical Business
SciSparc currently operates as a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company through its subsidiary, NeuroThera.
Its drug development portfolio focuses on cannabinoid-based treatments, including THC and cannabidiol (CBD).
The company's SCI-110 program targets Tourette syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and agitation. Meanwhile, SCI-210 is being developed for autism spectrum disorder and status epilepticus.
Through NeuroThera, SciSparc also holds a controlling stake in a business selling hemp seed oil-based products on Amazon's marketplace.
The shift toward AI could open new business opportunities.
