Super Micro Starts Shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin Racks
Separately, Super Micro said Wednesday that it has started shipping NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) Vera Rubin NVL72 racks with its Data Center Building Block Solutions and direct liquid cooling technology.
The systems combine 72 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and 36 Vera CPUs in a single liquid-cooled rack. Super Micro is also providing cooling, networking, storage, power, and deployment services.
The company said its platform can scale from 5-megawatt deployments to gigawatt-scale AI data centers. One Vera Rubin NVL72 Scalable Unit includes 1,152 Rubin GPUs and 331 terabytes of HBM4 memory across 16 compute racks.
The launch expands Super Micro’s role in the infrastructure needed to deploy NVIDIA’s next-generation AI systems.
Sees Strong AI Demand
Super Micro continues to see strong artificial intelligence demand supporting another year of rapid growth as customers expand AI infrastructure spending.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on Sept. 10, Super Micro Senior Vice President of Corporate Development Michael Staiger said demand remained “pretty excellent.”
He also said the company’s roughly $60 billion order book supports its fiscal 2027 outlook. Super Micro previously projected fiscal 2027 revenue of $65 billion to $72 billion.
Staiger said AI adoption is expanding across customers and appears to be developing into a multiyear cycle. Customers are also increasingly seeking complete infrastructure solutions instead of individual components.
Despite strong AI demand, Super Micro has lagged Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE:DELL) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (NYSE:HPE), weighed down by margin compression, corporate governance concerns, and shareholder dilution.
Technical Analysis
Super Micro remains above several key moving averages. That technical setup can attract momentum traders and dip-buyers when the broader market is also moving higher.
SMCI is trading about 9% above its 20-day simple moving average of $38.75 and roughly 33% above its 200-day SMA of $31.75. That keeps the intermediate- and long-term trend pointed higher.
The 20-day SMA also remains above the 50-day SMA. In addition, the 50-day SMA crossed above the 200-day SMA in August, forming a bullish golden cross.
Momentum has also improved. The MACD remains above its signal line with a positive histogram, suggesting buyers are gaining strength after the previous pullback.
SMCI remains below its 52-week high of $58.78 but well above its 52-week low of $19.48. The recent price structure suggests the stock is still repairing earlier weakness.
A key support level sits near $35.50. That area is also close to several intermediate-term moving averages.
Analyst Outlook
The stock carries a Hold consensus rating with an average price forecast of $39.50.
Citigroup raised its price forecast to $39 while maintaining a Neutral rating on Aug. 12. Goldman Sachs raised its price forecast to $34 while keeping a Sell rating. Mizuho maintained a Neutral rating and raised its price forecast to $35.
MarketDash Edge Rankings
The MarketDash Edge scorecard shows strong readings across several factors.
Momentum scores 90.99, while quality stands at 94.85. Value carries a score of 86.92, and growth leads with a 99.22 score.
The readings point to strong momentum and growth characteristics. However, traders may watch whether SMCI can continue holding above its key moving averages. A decline toward the mid-$30s could put the recent momentum under pressure.
Top ETF Exposure
The iShares Future AI & Tech ETF (NYSE:ARTY) holds a 4.40% weighting in SMCI. The iShares U.S. Digital Infrastructure and Real Estate ETF (NYSE:IDGT) has a 4.94% weighting, while the ERShares Entrepreneurs ETF (NASDAQ:ENTR) holds 3.74%.
Because SMCI has meaningful weightings in these funds, large ETF inflows or outflows can contribute to buying or selling pressure in the shares.
Price Action
Super Micro Computer shares were up 1.64% at $42.19 in Friday premarket trading, according to market data.
