Greenland Energy Company (GLND) stock jumped Thursday after the company amended its farm-out agreement with 80 Mile plc, pushing key drilling deadlines for its Jameson Land project in East Greenland out to 2028.
Under the amended agreement, Greenland Energy also assumed the rights and obligations previously held by its wholly owned subsidiary, March GL Company.
Greenland Energy Extends Drilling Deadlines
The deadline for the first exploration well was extended from Dec. 31, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2028.
Meanwhile, the deadline for the second exploration well moved from Dec. 31, 2027, to Dec. 31, 2028.
The revised timetable gives the company additional time to secure regulatory approvals before starting exploration drilling.
Company Takes Control Of Permitting
Greenland Energy will now take sole responsibility for obtaining and maintaining permits and approvals required for the Jameson Land drilling program. The company will cover those costs.
80 Mile will remain responsible for other government consents required under the existing farm-out agreement. It will also assist the company with permitting activities.
In exchange for agreeing to the amendments, the company will pay 80 Mile a fee of 500,000 British pounds within five business days of the effective date.
CEO Robert Price said the extension gives the company more time to advance the project while the permitting process continues.
He added that the underlying farm-out agreement remains in effect. The revised schedule also preserves operational work already completed.
Greenland Energy is an exploration-stage oil and gas company focused on Greenland's hydrocarbon resources. Its primary asset is the Jameson Land Basin, an onshore licensed area covering about 2 million acres in East Greenland.
Greenland Stocks Draw Fresh Attention
Greenland Energy stock also surged earlier this week as investors piled into Greenland-linked stocks following a new U.S.-Denmark-Greenland security agreement.
On Monday, GLND jumped about 138% on roughly 157 million shares, compared with an average volume of about 1.2 million shares. The move came as traders focused on the prospect of deeper U.S. involvement in Greenland, including security and strategic investment.
