Khanna Lays Out 5-Point Democratic Agenda
In an X post, Khanna wrote, "Five things Democrats will do in January when we win back the House," followed by five priorities: "Increase the minimum wage," "Pass paid family leave," "End the war in Iran," "Hold a vote on Medicare for All" and "Tax the billionaires."
In the accompanying clip, Khanna provided more detail on the proposals. He called for raising the federal minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to a "living wage."
On foreign policy, he said Democrats should "end the war in Iran and end any new wars."
He also said a Democratic-led House should hold a vote on Medicare for All while expanding Medicare to include "dental, vision, and hearing."
Democrats Focused on 2026 Midterms
Earlier this month, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi criticized Republicans over healthcare, military families, tariffs and rising food costs, which she attributed to Trump administration policies.
She urged Democrats to vote against MAGA-aligned Republicans in the 2026 midterm elections.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said Democrats could overcome Republican spending advantages by building a strong grassroots organization.
She urged investment in organizers, phone bankers and door-knockers while warning that Republican attacks and President Donald Trump's efforts would intensify.
Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) said Democrats could be headed for a "blue tsunami" after citing an Economist/YouGov poll showing Democrats leading Republicans 49% to 38% among likely voters on the 2026 House vote.
He said the lead could still help Democrats regain the House even if it were cut in half, adding, "November is coming."
Trump Criticized Supreme Court Ruling
Last week, Trump criticized the Supreme Court after it blocked his administration's mail-in voting restrictions, calling the ruling a "big loss" for Republicans and the country.
He called mail-in voting "totally CORRUPT and out of control," praised Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas for opposing the decision, and criticized Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett.
Trump also criticized the court's rulings on tariffs and birthright citizenship.
