Recent calls to slow down artificial intelligence and impose regulations have drawn a response from the White House. After President Donald Trump weighed in on what companies should be doing, Vice President J.D. Vance added his own take at the All-In Summit.

JD Vance on Data Centers and Power
Like President Trump, Vance dismissed the idea of regulation and slowing AI progress when technology investor Chamath Palihapitiya asked him about it.
Vance agreed with Palihapitiya that there's a level of fearmongering around AI and data centers.
The vice president said he sees the consequence of not buying power for the next decade and rising power bills if the backlash to data centers continues.
"You can't stop building," Vance said.
Vance pointed to 2005, when China crossed the point of generating more power than the United States. Since then, China has 3x as much electricity generated, while the United States has flatlined.
"We just have to build more. I think we have to have this vision in the United States of electricity that's too cheap to meter."
That comment drew a large round of applause from the live audience at the All-In Summit, who were listening to Vance as one of the event's virtual speakers.
JD Vance on AI Regulation
When it comes to regulation for the AI sector, Vance says President Trump is rightly asking the question on why it's the companies building Frankenstein asking to create a governance system.
"If you're building Frankenstein, stop," Vance said.
Vance said if the cat is already out of the bag, build the defense that can stop what you've built.
The vice president said that if you've created Frankenstein, don't now come to the government looking for regulation.
Vance said when it comes to AI growth and other technology advancements, it's an example of working for a president who is willing to take risks.
"I'd much rather have a president willing to take risks. Can reverse America's long term decline."
