Marvell Technology (MRVL) stock is trading more than 3% higher in Thursday's premarket session as risk appetite improves for high-beta technology stocks. Nasdaq futures are up 1.43%, while S&P 500 futures have gained 1.08%.

Thursday's early move comes as the broader technology sector strengthens before the opening bell. Marvell has also maintained its longer-term uptrend. Buyers are leaning into that strength as risk appetite improves across the broader market.

Bank of America Sees a Much Bigger AI Opportunity

Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya recently said Marvell may be underestimating its artificial intelligence opportunity. His comments followed meetings with CEO Matt Murphy and CFO Dan Durn.

Arya estimates the market for custom AI chips and related components could reach about $300 billion by 2030. That compares with Marvell's roughly $55 billion market estimate for 2028 from June 2025.

Arya sees Marvell's "XPU attach" business as a key opportunity. These connectivity and memory chips sit alongside custom AI processors. Marvell now supplies all four of the largest U.S. cloud providers.

Bank of America estimates Marvell could capture about $30 billion of a potential $60 billion to $65 billion XPU attach market by 2030.

Arya reiterated his Buy rating and $365 price forecast. He also named Marvell his favorite AI networking stock. Investors will next watch Marvell's Oct. 6 analyst day for updates on its market opportunity, margins and earnings outlook.

Piper Sandler Starts Coverage With a Bullish Call

Adding to the bullish analyst view, Piper Sandler initiated coverage of Marvell with an Overweight rating and a $270 price forecast on Sept. 10. The firm cited surging demand for AI computing infrastructure.

Analysts said the AI market is "starving for more compute capacity," with 2027 capacity already sold out and order books full for 2028.

Piper Sandler estimates the global compute market could reach $2.2 trillion by 2030. That includes about $2 trillion for accelerators and $200 billion for CPUs.

The firm identified Marvell as one of the semiconductor companies playing a significant role in the hyperscaler and neocloud infrastructure buildout. Piper Sandler expects rising AI demand and higher component costs to support hardware revenue as companies race to add computing capacity.

What the Charts Say

Marvell remains above its key moving averages. The stock is about 4.5% above its 20-day simple moving average of $227.64. It is also about 51.6% above its 200-day SMA of $156.89.

The 20-day SMA remains above the 50-day SMA, supporting the bullish intermediate trend. The golden cross formed in October 2025 also remains intact.

The relative strength index stands at 52.70. That is a neutral reading and suggests the stock is not currently overbought.

Key resistance sits near $242, a nearby level where an advance could stall. Key support is around $200.50, a previous buying zone that could become important during a larger pullback.

Where Analysts Stand

Marvell carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $295.25.

Recent analyst actions include Piper Sandler initiating coverage with an Overweight rating and a $270 price forecast on Sept. 10. Craig-Hallum maintained a Buy rating and raised its forecast to $300 on Aug. 28. B. Riley Securities maintained a Buy rating but lowered its forecast to $315 on Aug. 28.

The stock trades at a price-to-earnings multiple of about 76.1, reflecting a premium valuation.
