Pritzker said the rate hike was a direct consequence of "Trump's war of choice, which keeps making everything more expensive." He called the economy a "catastrophic failure" and warned that the move would drive up costs from credit-card bills to new-car loans. "Working people will have to foot the bill," he said.
In a separate post, Pritzker went after surging fuel costs, referencing Trump's promise to lower prices. "Now, his Iran war has cost Americans $107,000,000,000 more on gas and diesel alone," he said. "Promises made. Promises broken."
Peter Navarro Slams Fed Rate Hike
Trump's Trade Adviser Peter Navarro also criticized Fed Chair Kevin Warsh over the rate hike, arguing that raising rates amid energy uncertainty would hurt the U.S. economy. Meanwhile, Iran's Parliament Speaker mocked the move, saying it would do little to offset inflation caused by the Strait of Hormuz situation.
On the other side, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) fired back at Trump and Energy Secretary Chris Wright over spiked fuel prices. Newsom said the Trump administration was making California a scapegoat for elevated gasoline and diesel costs. Wright had earlier slammed California for importing oil from Iraq, which he said raises national security concerns.
