AI Opportunity In Focus
Adding to the backdrop, Bank of America analyst Vivek Arya recently said Marvell may be underestimating its AI opportunity after meeting with CEO Matt Murphy and CFO Dan Durn.
Arya estimates the market for custom AI chips and related components could reach about $300 billion by 2030. That compares with Marvell's roughly $55 billion market estimate for 2028 from June 2025.
Arya sees Marvell's “XPU attach” business as a key opportunity. These connectivity and memory chips sit alongside custom AI processors. Marvell now supplies all four of the largest U.S. cloud providers.
Bank of America estimates Marvell could capture about $30 billion of a potential $60 billion to $65 billion XPU attach market by 2030.
Arya reiterated his Buy rating and $365 price forecast and named Marvell his favorite AI networking stock. Investors will next watch Marvell's Oct. 6 analyst day for potential updates on its market opportunity, margins and earnings outlook.
Technical Analysis
Marvell remains in a bullish longer-term trend. The stock is about 45% above its 200-day simple moving average of $156.18. Its 50-day SMA also remains above the 200-day SMA, preserving the golden-cross pattern formed in October 2025.
However, the near-term picture is more mixed. Marvell is 0.2% below its 20-day SMA of $226.95 but about 5% above its 50-day SMA of $215.76.
The relative strength index stands at 48.92. That neutral reading suggests neither buyers nor sellers have clear momentum.
Resistance sits near $254.50, while support is around $200.50.
Analyst Outlook
The stock carries a Buy consensus rating with an average price forecast of $295.25.
Piper Sandler initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and a $270 price forecast on Sept. 10. Craig-Hallum maintained a Buy rating and raised its forecast to $300 on Aug. 28. B. Riley Securities maintained Buy but lowered its forecast to $315 the same day.
Marvell trades at a price-to-earnings ratio of about 73.4, reflecting a premium valuation.
Edge Rankings
Marvell scores highly on growth and momentum in the market data scorecard, but its value score remains weak.
Its Momentum score stands at 98.78, while Growth is 99.57. However, its Value score is just 2.23.
The combination points to strong growth and price momentum alongside a relatively expensive valuation.
ETF Exposure
Marvell is held by several semiconductor-focused ETFs. The First Trust Nasdaq Semiconductor ETF (FTXL) has a 6.92% weighting, while the State Street SPDR NYSE Technology ETF (XNTK) has a 5.69% weighting. The Invesco PHLX Semiconductor ETF (SOXQ) has a 4.53% weighting.
MRVL Price Action
