Visa Inc. (V) stock edged lower Thursday as a broader market selloff pressured financial stocks. The Nasdaq fell 0.86%, while the S&P 500 declined 0.52%.
Financials fell 0.43% as investors reduced risk across most sectors. Market breadth was also weak. Only two of the 11 major sectors traded higher. Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 fell 0.95% and the Dow declined 0.64%.
The defensive backdrop limited buying across large-cap financial stocks.
Visa, Mastercard Push To Secure AI Agent Payments
Separately, Visa, Mastercard Inc. (MA) and Ant International said Wednesday they are collaborating on a framework to verify AI agents as they take a bigger role in online payments.
The Know-Your-Agent framework aims to create common trust signals across card networks, digital wallets and AI platforms. It could reduce duplicate identity checks and lower integration costs while maintaining security and risk controls.
AI agents are moving beyond product recommendations to completing purchases for consumers. By 2030, they could orchestrate $3 trillion to $5 trillion in global consumer commerce, according to the companies.
The companies will also work through BuildFin.ai, an initiative convened by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, to develop common approaches for AI agent verification, accountability and risk management.
Technical Analysis
Visa's long-term trend remains bullish despite recent weakness. The stock trades about 6.5% above its 100-day simple moving average of $344.51. It is also 9.6% above its 200-day SMA of $334.74.
However, shares are about 1.6% below the 20-day SMA of $372.69. That signals weaker momentum in the short term.
Visa's relative strength index stands at 46.45. An RSI near 50 generally indicates neutral momentum, with neither buyers nor sellers firmly in control.
The broader trend structure remains positive. Visa's 20-day SMA remains above its 50-day SMA, while the 50-day average remains above the 200-day SMA.
The $374 level marks near-term resistance. Meanwhile, $358 could provide support if selling pressure increases.

Visa scores strongly on quality and momentum in the MarketDash Edge rankings. Its Quality score stands at 84.41, while Momentum is 71.46.
However, its Value score is 8.9 and Growth score is 16.93. The combination points to a high-quality stock with positive longer-term momentum but a premium valuation and weaker growth-factor readings.
For bulls, a move above $374 could signal renewed momentum. Conversely, a drop toward $358 could test the intermediate uptrend.
