Kimmel Show Reportedly Ending In 2027

On Tuesday, Page Six reported that the upcoming season of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" could be its last, with the show expected to wrap up in May 2027 after 24 years on air. "His contract is not getting extended," a source familiar with the situation told Page Six.

ABC Entertainment, however, disputed the report, saying, "This information is inaccurate — any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative."

Kimmel's Political Controversies

Kimmel has been no stranger to controversy. Earlier this year, he faced backlash over a joke about Melania Trump, which the first lady called "hateful and violent rhetoric." President Donald Trump even urged Disney and ABC to fire Kimmel. Kimmel defended the joke as a reference to the couple's age difference and rejected claims that it promoted violence.

Last year, former Disney CEO Michael Eisner came to Kimmel's defense after ABC suspended "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" over his remarks about Charlie Kirk's killing. Eisner criticized FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, calling his pressure on Disney and ABC "out-of-control intimidation," and praised Kimmel as "very talented and funny."

CBS Ends Colbert's Late-Night Run

Kimmel isn't the only late-night host facing an uncertain future. Paramount (PARA)'s CBS announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert would end in May 2026 after a 33-year run. The decision followed Colbert's criticism of Paramount's $16 million settlement with Trump, which he called "a big fat bribe."

CBS said the cancellation was purely financial and unrelated to the show's performance or content. Colbert thanked viewers and the 200-member crew, saying the decision would mark the end of The Late Show on CBS.
