BitMine Immersion Technologies Inc. (NYSE: BMNR) shares climbed nearly 5% on Tuesday after the company gave investors an update on its Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) treasury strategy. The move highlights how closely the company's fortunes are tied to the world's second-largest cryptocurrency.

Ethereum Holdings Reach 5.85 Million Tokens
BitMine said its Ethereum holdings have grown to 5.85 million tokens. The company's total crypto assets, cash, marketable securities, and what it calls "moonshot" investments now stand at $14.9 billion.
Breaking that down, BitMine holds $308 million in cash and marketable securities. The bulk of its crypto stash is 5.07 million staked Ethereum tokens, which the company values at $12.4 billion based on an ETH price of $2,440.
The company says it has completed 97% of its "Alchemy of 5%" goal, a strategy aimed at acquiring 5% of Ethereum's circulating supply. With Ethereum up 30% over the past week, BitMine's valuation is increasingly tied to ETH prices and the scale of its staking operations.
BitMine also reminded investors that it joined the Russell 1000 on June 26. Its Series A preferred stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BMNP.
Technical Analysis
Here's where things get interesting for traders. BitMine shares are trading 30.8% above their 20-day simple moving average of $19.22, and 48.1% above the 50-day SMA of $16.99. The stock is also 10.1% above its 200-day SMA of $22.84, a level often watched as a key long-term trend indicator.
But the relative strength index is at 78.95. Anything above 70 signals overbought conditions, which means the recent rally could be vulnerable to a pullback or a period of consolidation. That's a classic warning sign for momentum traders.
There's also a longer-term caution flag: the 50-day SMA remains below the 200-day SMA following a death cross in January. And despite the recent rebound, BitMine shares are still down 49.25% over the past 12 months. So while the short-term trend looks strong, the bigger picture is still recovering.
Key Support: Traders may watch $20 as an initial support level. That area is also near the 20-day SMA and could attract buyers during a pullback.
Top ETF Exposure
BitMine has notable weightings in several cryptocurrency-focused ETFs, which could amplify price moves:
- Corgi Crypto Infrastructure ETF (NASDAQ: BLCK): 4.52%
- Bitwise Crypto Industry Innovators ETF (NYSE: BITQ): 5.52%
- Global X Blockchain ETF (NASDAQ: BKCH): 7.99%
Because of those weightings, fund inflows or outflows could trigger additional buying or selling of BMNR shares. If investors pile into these ETFs, BitMine could see a tailwind; if they pull out, the stock could face extra pressure.
BMNR Price Action
BitMine shares were up 4.57% at $25.24 at the time of publication Tuesday, according to market data.
