Earnings Take Center Stage
Marvell is set to report second-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 27. Analysts are looking for earnings of 87 cents per share, up from 67 cents a year earlier. Revenue is projected at $2.71 billion, compared with $2.01 billion last year. That's a solid jump, and the market seems to be betting the company can deliver.
The stock carries a Buy consensus rating, with an average price target of $269.09. But individual analysts have been tweaking their numbers. UBS maintained its Buy rating on Monday but trimmed its price target to $300. KeyBanc Capital Markets raised its target to $400 on July 14, keeping an Overweight rating. RBC Capital Markets has an Outperform rating and a $360 target, set on July 7.
Technical Picture: Strong but Not Perfect
Over the past 12 months, Marvell shares have gained more than 211%. The stock sits about 68% above its 200-day simple moving average of $142.20, which is a sign of strong long-term momentum. The MACD is above its signal line with a positive histogram, indicating buying pressure is building.
But there's a wrinkle: the 20-day SMA of $204.72 is still below the 50-day SMA of $236.55. That suggests some short-term weakness is lingering, even as the longer-term trend remains intact. The 50-day SMA could act as support near $236.55, while the June 52-week high of $329.88 is a key resistance level to watch.
Valuation Concerns Lurk
Marvell scores exceptionally well on growth and momentum metrics, with ratings of 99.79 and 98.41, respectively. But its value score is just 1.54, which is a fancy way of saying the stock isn't cheap. That's not necessarily a deal-breaker for growth investors, but it's worth keeping in mind.
Price Action
At the time of publication Monday, Marvell shares were up 7.39% at $238.42, according to market data.
