President Donald Trump's approval rating is taking a beating across key demographics, with some surveys putting his overall approval as low as 32% to 34%. That's a dangerous zone for any president, and it's putting Republican control of both the House and Senate at risk.

Trump Approval Rating Dives

A new nationwide poll by the Financial Times and FocalData shows that most Americans say their economic conditions have worsened under Trump. Specifically, 73% of registered Democrats and 23% of Republicans said their financial situations had deteriorated. But the real red flag? 57% of Independent voters said things have gotten worse for them.

The poll also found that more voters now believe Democrats would be better stewards of the economy than Republicans. Historically, the economy has been one of Trump's strongest talking points, so this shift is significant.

More data shows Trump's net approval rating among Republicans dropped eight percentage points compared to the previous month. Overall, 64% of registered voters disapprove of his handling of the country.

A separate poll indicates Trump is even losing support among self-identified MAGA voters. According to Politico, only a third of MAGA voters said the Iran war was worth it in July, down from about 50% in May. A senior White House official summed up the mood:

"The White House is at a maximum level of frustration right now, and I was told by very senior people that the president is now fully aware that the only way to the victory that he wants is completely politically impossible."

Voters Question Key Trump Policies and Actions

American voters are questioning many of Trump's policies and priorities. First, there's the US-Iran war, which has cost billions of dollars and resulted in the deaths of 18 Americans. The conflict has pushed gasoline prices and inflation higher. On Friday, Trump said he wasn't bothered by higher gas prices, arguing the sacrifice was worth it.

Second, Trump's immigration actions have drawn substantial criticism. While border crossings have dropped this term, many are concerned about ICE's tactics, particularly raids and the increasing deportation of non-criminals.

Further, voters have criticized Trump's focus on vanity projects like the Kennedy Center, the Reflection Pool, and the White House Ballroom. The Washington Post found documents showing White House renovations will cost taxpayers $900 million. The Reflection Pool alone cost over $16 million, and the work was undone within weeks.

These issues could cost Republicans control of Congress. If Democrats take over, Trump will face intense pressure as investigations begin. Some of those investigations would likely focus on his crypto projects, Trump Media's Trump Media (DJT) subscription service for his posts, Epstein ties, the administration's use of federal law enforcement against rivals, and his connections to foreign businesses.
