Velo3D Inc (NASDAQ:VELO) just dropped its second-quarter numbers, and they were something to behold. The additive manufacturing company reported revenue of $20.66 million, absolutely crushing analyst estimates of $13.52 million. That's a 52.3% jump year-over-year, driven by a 57% surge in 3D Printer and Parts revenue. The company also posted an adjusted loss of 30 cents per share, slightly better than the 31-cent loss analysts were expecting.
So what's behind the big numbers? CEO Arun Jeldi credits a mix of factors: "The strength of our results reflects the increasing demand for our advanced metal additive manufacturing solutions, the successful execution of our commercial strategy and our team's relentless focus on operational excellence." He also highlighted expanded customer relationships and new partnerships across aerospace, defense, energy, and space markets.
The company booked $29 million in new orders during the quarter and ended with a backlog of $31 million. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $91.1 million as of June 30, giving it a solid runway.
Looking ahead, Velo3D raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $65 million to $75 million, up from the previous $60 million to $70 million. Analysts were expecting $64.16 million, so this is a nice beat on guidance too. The company also said it expects to be EBITDA positive in the second half of 2026.
One of the big operational highlights was the launch of the Livermore Production Campus during the quarter. The new facility is expected to triple the company's manufacturing capacity, which could be a game-changer for scaling up production.
Investors clearly liked what they saw. Velo3D shares were up 17.60% in after-hours trading Tuesday, sitting at $16.10 at the time of publication. That's a strong vote of confidence in the company's trajectory.
Executives will dive deeper into the quarter on an earnings call scheduled for 5 p.m. ET, so there may be more color on the horizon. For now, the market seems convinced that Velo3D is on the right track.
