PDS Biotechnology Corporation (PDSB) shares took a nosedive on Tuesday, dropping about 67%, after the company announced a major strategic shift. The biotech firm is now prioritizing its PDS0301 program, which targets metastatic colorectal cancer, over other pipeline candidates.

The decision to focus on PDS0301 is part of a broader refocusing effort, reflecting the company's commitment to advancing its immunotherapy pipeline built on its proprietary Versamune platform technology. In a statement, the company explained the rationale: "We concluded that our resources should be redirected toward PDS0301, where we believe the combination of encouraging clinical data, development opportunity and capital requirements provide a potentially more attractive path to long-term shareholder value."
CEO Frank Bedu-Addo also addressed shareholders in a letter, saying, "We believe the strength of the Phase 2 clinical results allows us to preserve the potential value of PDS0101 through a strategic partnership." This suggests that while PDS0101 is being deprioritized, the company sees enough promise in it to seek a partner rather than abandon it entirely.
PDSB Technical Outlook: Oversold Conditions And Downtrend
From a technical standpoint, PDS Biotechnology's stock is in rough shape. The current price sits at 24 cents, which is about 62.5% below the 20-day simple moving average (SMA) of 69 cents. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is at 17.90, putting the stock firmly in oversold territory. That might sound like a potential rebound is in the cards, but the broader trend tells a different story.
The 50-day SMA is at 84 cents, meaning the stock is trading 69.1% below that level. Adding to the bearish picture, a death cross occurred in August when the 50-day SMA crossed below the 200-day SMA, a classic signal that the downtrend could continue.
PDSB Price Action: At the time of publication on Tuesday, PDS Biotechnology shares were down 64.01% to $0.26, hitting a new 52-week low, according to market data.
For investors, the key takeaway is that PDS Biotechnology is making a calculated bet on PDS0301, but the market's reaction suggests skepticism about the near-term prospects. The oversold conditions might attract bargain hunters, but the technical indicators warn that the stock could face further pressure before any meaningful recovery.
