Shares of Nuwellis Inc (NUWE) are having a day to remember, surging more than 136% on Thursday as traders react to a fresh dose of pediatric data and a strategic hospital installation.
The company announced that a new single-center retrospective study supporting an alternative anticoagulation strategy for its Aquadex ultrafiltration therapy was accepted by Frontiers in Pediatrics. The study highlights epoprostenol as a potential option for keeping circuits open without adding bleeding risk or requiring intensive metabolic monitoring. Nuwellis noted it provided modest financial support for open-access publication costs but did not fund the research itself.
The rally is also being framed as a continuation of Nuwellis' pediatric push. The company recently installed its first Aquadex SmartFlow systems at a leading pediatric hospital in Wisconsin, adding real-world momentum to the narrative.
That installation followed preliminary second-quarter revenue growth of 14% year-over-year (and 20% growth for the six-month period ended June 30), keeping attention on the upcoming Aug. 13 results date.
At the time of publication, Nuwellis shares were trading at $4.48, up 136.77% on the day, according to market data.
