Edible Garden AG (EDBL) shares shot up more than 64% on Monday after the company announced it's significantly expanding its fresh-cut herb distribution to Walmart Inc. (WMT) stores across the Mid-Atlantic region. The stock has since given back most of those gains and is now trading roughly flat on the day.
The company said the new program will make its premium fresh-cut herbs available at more Walmart locations in the region. It's part of Edible Garden's broader strategy to deepen relationships with national retailers while leveraging its controlled environment agriculture (CEA) network to guarantee a consistent, year-round supply.
CEO Highlights Growth Strategy And Retail Partnership
Jim Kras, Edible Garden's chief executive officer, called the expanded Walmart distribution another milestone in the company's long-term growth strategy. He noted that the broader rollout will put its fresh herbs in front of more consumers while strengthening the company's ties with the retail giant. Kras added that the expansion reflects confidence in Edible Garden's business model, its ongoing investments in innovation, and its ability to serve large national retailers.
He also said the company expects its CEA network and GreenThumb 2.0 technology to support deeper customer relationships, open up new growth opportunities, and create long-term shareholder value.
GreenThumb 2.0 Technology Supports Operations
Edible Garden said it will support the expanded distribution through its CEA network and proprietary GreenThumb 2.0 software platform. The system uses data analytics and precision agriculture to optimize growing conditions, improve product quality, and boost operational efficiency. The company also said the platform supports its Zero-Waste Inspired sustainability strategy by cutting waste and improving resource efficiency.
Initial shipments under the expanded Walmart distribution program are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
