J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (JBHT) delivered a solid second-quarter performance after Wednesday's close, cruising past analyst expectations on both the top and bottom lines.
The trucking company reported earnings of $1.91 per share, beating the $1.71 consensus estimate by 11.7%. Revenue came in at $3.5 billion, topping the Street's $3.24 billion forecast and climbing from $2.93 billion in the same quarter last year.
“I’m grateful for our people and their continued focus on delivering operational excellence around service, safety and cost discipline in this dynamic environment,” said CEO Shelley Simpson. “Our second quarter results reflect the strength of executing our strategy, as we leveraged our investments in our people, technology, and capacity to drive growth and improve profitability.”
Investors liked what they saw. J.B. Hunt shares rose 6.65% to $294.65 in extended trading Wednesday, according to market data.
