Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) celebrated the enactment of a housing affordability measure, saying the new law could help working Americans as she criticized President Donald Trump for not signing the legislation.

Trump Lets Housing Bill Become Law

On Saturday, Warren announced on X that the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act had officially become law, saying the measure took effect after Trump declined to sign the legislation within the required timeframe.

"Woo-hoo!" Warren wrote. "The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is officially law and will help make housing more affordable."

She said Trump "refused to sign it—but it automatically went into effect while he was sleeping last night."

"Today is a huge win for working people," Warren further said.

Bipartisan Housing Bill Becomes Law

Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) said the ROAD to Housing Act became law after Trump declined to sign the bipartisan legislation, calling the decision "mystifying" while praising the bill as a step toward lowering housing costs.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) also highlighted the law as a bipartisan achievement, saying Democrats and Republicans worked together to address housing affordability and make homeownership more attainable for Americans.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) called the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act a "historic victory" that could help more families achieve the American Dream by expanding homeownership opportunities, strengthening communities and creating future economic opportunities.

Trump Rejects ROAD To Housing Act

On Friday, the President said that he would not sign the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, citing the Senate’s failure to pass the SAVE America Act.

Trump said his decision was a protest against lawmakers’ inability to approve the legislation.

Trump Pushes Defense Funding, SAVE Act

Last week, President Trump highlighted the strength and morale of the U.S. Military, pointing to record recruiting numbers and its role in Independence Day celebrations.

He urged Congress to prioritize the passage of Reconciliation 3.0, which includes $350 billion in defense funding, along with the SAVE America Act.

Trump said the measures would help preserve U.S. security and freedom for future generations.
