Anthony Scaramucci, who briefly served as White House Communications Director under President Donald Trump, took to X on Thursday to lay out a pretty damning indictment of the current administration. His message? The alleged fraud happening now—including what he calls Trump's "crypto grift"—will eventually be caught. "There will be a reckoning for all of it," he said.
Scaramucci didn't hold back. He accused the Trump administration of enabling insider trading, questionable cryptocurrency schemes, international bribes, donor contracts, and paid pardons. "Trump’s grift will be caught. It always gets caught," Scaramucci posted. He argued that all the violations and weaknesses in the system are well-documented, and if the U.S. gets a "reform-based president" after 2028, they'll know exactly what to fix. "Trump has been so brazen about all of it that he’s inadvertently shown us exactly what needs to be fixed," he added.
This isn't Scaramucci's first critique of Trump. Last month, he called for Trump's removal, citing mental health concerns and arguing that institutional failures and political silence are enabling dangerous behavior.
So what's the "grift" in question? A lot of it revolves around money and influence. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and economist Peter Schiff have demanded investigations into insider trading within the Trump camp, pointing to suspicious trades linked to Trump's Iran and tariff announcements. Warren also raised eyebrows over Trump's approval of Paramount Global Inc.'s $8 billion merger with Skydance last year, suggesting it might have involved a "big fat bribe."
Then there are the corporate donations. Major companies have donated to Trump's ambitious ballroom project, with a Coinbase executive admitting the donation was made to maintain "good relations" with the White House. That kind of thing tends to raise ethical questions.
But the biggest focus might be on the Trump family's cryptocurrency ventures. Since Trump took office again, these ventures have reportedly netted them $2.3 billion. Warren has labeled these activities as "corruption" and a "massive" conflict of interest. Scaramucci specifically called out the Official Trump (CRYPTO: TRUMP) memecoin, saying it has undermined efforts to pass essential cryptocurrency legislation.
The White House didn't immediately return requests for comment.
For now, Scaramucci's warning is clear: the reckoning is coming, and Trump's brazenness has only made it easier to see what needs fixing.
