Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is not happy with President Donald Trump. And it's not about policy or strategy—it's about a single, offhand remark that she says could haunt Republicans for years.
Trump told reporters this week that he "loves inflation," brushing aside concerns about the latest price data. Greene, a staunch Trump ally, didn't hold back in her response, calling the comment "shocking" and warning it could become a political liability.
"Yeah, I found that shocking," Greene said in comments shared Wednesday by CNN's Kaitlan Collins. "I remember during the Biden administration, that was one of the biggest issues that MAGA, all of us, would scream at the top of our lungs about, and we called it Biden inflation."
Greene noted that Trump campaigned heavily against inflation under former President Joe Biden, and many Americans are still struggling with rising costs. "To hear the president say today that he loves inflation is absolutely outrageous," she said. "That's a punch in the gut to every single American that is struggling to pay their bills, struggling to pay grocery prices, and struggling to basically keep up while their credit card debt is mounting and mounting."
She also tied the inflation to the administration's handling of the conflict with Iran, saying it's hard to accept higher prices "from a billionaire president" when they're linked to "a war that he decided to pursue."
