President Donald Trump has officially nominated Todd Blanche to be the next Attorney General, after firing Pam Bondi from the role back in April. Since Bondi's exit, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has been serving as the acting Attorney General.
While Lee Zeldin, the EPA administrator, was once a top contender, Trump has now put Blanche's name forward.
So what do the betting markets think? Data from Kalshi, a federally authorized prediction platform, shows that over $8.5 million has been wagered on the contract "Who will be Trump's next Attorney General?" Blanche is leading the pack with a 63% probability. Zeldin is a distant second at just 9.3%.
Blanche first stepped into the spotlight when he joined Trump's legal team in March 2023, after Trump was indicted in the hush-money case involving Stormy Daniels. Trump later beat all four criminal cases he faced, and Blanche was promoted to Deputy Attorney General. Once he became acting AG, the Justice Department moved to vacate several high-profile cases related to January 6. The department also negotiated a $1.8 billion fund to compensate allies, but that plan was scrapped after backlash.
