On Monday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) weighed in on the massive protests in Albania over a planned luxury resort involving Jared Kushner, calling it a symbol of "global oligarchy."

Albania Protests Against Kushner-Led Resort

In a post on X, Sanders pointed to demonstrations in Albania against a proposed luxury resort backed by Kushner and Qatari billionaire partners, calling it "environmentally disastrous" and a symbol of elite wealth and influence.

"In tiny Albania, over a hundred thousand people have been in the streets against an environmentally disastrous luxury resort planned by Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and his Qatari billionaire partners," Sanders wrote. He added, "This is what global oligarchy looks like — and the people are saying NO."

EU Warning On Kushner Project

Economist Steve Hanke said on X that the European Union warned Albania that Kushner's planned luxury resort project could threaten the country's EU accession process. He added that the project has been suspended and described rising opposition as the "Flamingo Revolution" gaining momentum.

Ivanka Trump Albania Project, Kushner Financial Scrutiny

Last week, Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump and Kushner's wife, discussed the Sazan Island development in Albania. She described it as a major personal and professional undertaking focused on redeveloping the 1,400-hectare island while preserving its natural environment. She noted the island currently lacks basic infrastructure and would be built from scratch and described the effort as more of a personal challenge than a traditional business venture.

In March, Kushner faced renewed scrutiny over his financial disclosure and his firm Affinity Partners, which manages $5.4 billion backed by major foreign investments, including $2 billion from Saudi Arabia, despite reporting no investor returns.
