If you've ever wanted President Trump's portrait and gold signature on your passport, here's your chance—but you'll have to make a trip to Washington, D.C.
The State Department will issue a limited-edition commemorative passport in July, featuring President Donald Trump's portrait and gold signature, to mark America's 250th anniversary. The special-edition passport will only be available to in-person applicants in Washington, D.C., around July 4, the Department of State confirmed to Travel + Leisure.
July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776—the semiquincentennial of the United States. The milestone has prompted a sweeping federal commemoration effort spanning monuments, currency, national park passes, and major public events.
The interior of these passports features an image of the signing of the Declaration of Independence opposite Trump's portrait. The front cover reads "United States of America" in large gold font; the back displays the American flag with 250 stars encircled.
Only 25,000 to 30,000 copies will be produced, according to the Associated Press. Mail and online applicants will receive the standard version.
"These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the U.S. Passport the most secure document in the world," State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a statement to PEOPLE. The commemorative passports will not cost extra, the State Department confirmed.
The release follows the Department of the Interior's rollout of the "America the Beautiful" annual resident pass, also tied to the 250th anniversary, which features portraits of Trump and George Washington.
President Trump is also set to personally open the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, the 16-day event marking America's 250th anniversary.
