Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has slammed President Donald Trump for causing disruptions in the global energy supply chains as tensions grow between Washington and Tehran.

Donald Trump Caused Global Energy Disruptions

In a post on X on Monday, Newsom criticized Trump for the ongoing situation in the Middle East, saying that Trump's "war on Iran" had "directly" caused the "high prices" at fuel stations across the U.S.

Trump was also responsible for the "disruption of the global energy supply," due to the war, Newsom said.

"The worst part? Trump doesn't even bother to care that Americans are struggling," Newsom added in the post, outlining rising costs.

Elizabeth Warren Slams Trump

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) accused Trump of helping oil executives amass wealth and profit from the Iran war as Americans were paying $800 million in excess costs at the pump, she said.

The Massachusetts Senator then said that executives like Chevron Corp. (CVX) CEO Mike Wirth made over $104 million since the Iran war.

Meanwhile, investor Ross Gerber of Gerber Kawasaki shared that the Iran war had presented the world with a "great opportunity" to transition to alternative sources of energy and reduce dependence on oil. He also added that doing so would render the Strait of Hormuz "meaningless."

Iran War Updates, Gas Prices

As uncertainty looms over any agreements with Iran, Trump said that he "couldn't care less" if negotiations with Iran were halted. He also said that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to pull troops back, as well as held conversations with Hezbollah members to deter targeting Israeli troops.

According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average price of gas declined to $4.322/gallon on Monday, slightly below Sunday's $4.336/gallon average price. The national average for diesel was around $5.448/gallon.
