President Donald Trump is not happy with a federal judge who is holding up his plans for a White House "DronePort." Over the weekend, Trump took to Truth Social to demand the immediate dismissal of a lawsuit blocking the project, warning that delays could put Washington, D.C., at risk.
The proposed facility, Trump said, is "perhaps, the most sophisticated anywhere in the World" and would strengthen defenses against modern threats. He specifically called out U.S. District Judge Richard Leon, writing, "Leon should stop playing games with America's Security," and suggested the judge could be held responsible if "Death and Destruction" occur in the future.
Trump also went after the lawsuit itself, calling it "ridiculous" and attacking the plaintiff as a "highly litigious woman" who lacks legal standing. "A woman who has absolutely no STANDING!" he wrote, arguing that the case is based on concerns over disruption from the structure. He further argued that modern warfare requires updated defenses, noting that Washington "can no longer defend… with rifles and pistols, alone."
Trump urged the court to dismiss the case "IMMEDIATELY," asserting the project is necessary for the long-term protection of the nation's capital.
This isn't the only legal battle Trump is fighting over White House construction. Earlier, Judge Leon also blocked above-ground construction of a planned $400 million White House ballroom, ruling that the project could not proceed in its visible form without Congress's approval. Limited security-related work was allowed to continue after a preservation group lawsuit. Trump called the ballroom "a gift" funded by private donors and said the ruling was "WRONG," arguing it should not require taxpayer funding or congressional authorization. He said he would appeal the decision.
So, two projects, two legal hurdles, and one very frustrated president. The DronePort case is still pending, but Trump is making it clear he wants it gone—fast.
