The company said the investment supports its goal of delivering the first large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029.

IBM said it has deployed more than 90 quantum systems globally and built a network of more than 325 Fortune 500 companies, startups, universities and government agencies using its quantum platforms.

The announcement follows a recent Letter of Intent between IBM and the Department of Commerce to develop an American quantum chip foundry, called Anderon, aimed at accelerating U.S. quantum innovation.
