The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly shot down a U.S. military drone entering its airspace on Tuesday as tensions escalate between Washington and Tehran.

The IRGC downed an MQ-9 drone after identifying the "hostile aircraft" entering its airspace, according to a report by Al Jazeera. The report also mentioned that the IRGC fired at another RQ-4 drone and an F-35 fighter jet, citing a statement by the IRGC, but did not provide specific timelines for the incidents.

The IRGC statement also said that it had the right to retaliate against ceasefire violations by the U.S. amid the war, the report said.

Meanwhile, a report by Middle East Eye, citing Iranian news agency Tasnim, on Tuesday suggests Iran has sought the release of over $24 billion in frozen assets by the U.S. as part of the negotiations.

The news comes as the U.S. Central Command said it had earlier targeted Iranian missile launching sites, as well as vessels laying underwater mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes were described as self-defense measures.

President Donald Trump had earlier said that negotiations with Iran were proceeding well, but warned against rushing into any deals with Tehran. Trump also urged Iran to join a global coalition led by the U.S., while also urging countries like Pakistan to sign the "Abraham Accords" to normalize relations with Israel.
