Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci took to X on Saturday to deliver a blunt assessment of President Donald Trump: He's not actually popular, just really good at bullying his way to the top.
'Nobody really likes Donald Trump. That's just the truth,' Scaramucci wrote, though he acknowledged Trump's political talents, calling him 'powerful, effective, charismatic in his way.'
Scaramucci argued that Trump 'used his narcissism and his bullying to get the top job in America' and suggested the president reacts aggressively to criticism because of deep personal insecurity. 'When people call him out for who he is, he lashes back,' he wrote.
The former Trump aide ended the post with dark humor: 'Only the good die young, so this…will probably live forever.' He added, 'I would find that very amusing. Even from wherever I end up.'
Scaramucci, who served just 11 days as communications director in 2017, has become a frequent Trump critic. In earlier remarks, he urged people to stop playing the victim and recover quickly from failure, citing his own brief tenure as proof that setbacks shouldn't define a person.
He also argued that Trump reflects deeper economic and political problems in the U.S., saying populist leaders will keep emerging unless issues like income inequality are addressed. Scaramucci called Trump 'a symptom, not the disease,' and said his rise was fueled by public frustration over economic decline.
In a separate comment, Scaramucci said Trump is often misunderstood, describing him as charming in private while noting his more combative public image. He added that Trump tends to respect people who push back against him, even if he doesn't openly admit it.
