One of the most-watched shows on Amazon (AMZN)'s Prime Video has wrapped up, and Elon Musk is not happy about it. The series finale of "The Boys" aired on May 20, 2026, and while the billionaire didn't actually watch it, he had plenty to say about what he heard.
"The Boys" has spent five seasons skewering superheroes who abuse power, act like politicians, and sometimes think they're gods. The finale killed off several main characters — spoilers ahead — and one plot point in particular caught Musk's attention.
It started when a user on X criticized the show's writers for turning the villain Homelander into a "Trump analogue." The user wrote: "The entire show was just a deranged sexual humiliation fantasy projected onto Trump. They can't even produce a decent superhero parody without injecting their twisted fetishes into every script."
Musk replied with a single word: "Pathetic."
Showrunner Eric Kripke saw the post and fired back: "OMG this is his review of what ‘The Boys' did to Homelander, I'll never get a better review ever."
Musk then clarified that he hadn't watched the finale. He added: "Kripke probably got flack from his wife's bf for Homelander being used in based memes and had to write that ending as a groveling apology." He called that his "second-best review." To another user, Musk described the ending as "fake and gay."
But Homelander might not be the only character Musk should be concerned about. The finale introduced a new character called "The Disruptor" — the richest person in the world, with a love for space, fertility rates, and wearing black writing on black baseball caps. Deadline reported that Kripke said the character was pitched during the season and fit into the finale. Musk hasn't commented on that one yet.
This isn't the first time Musk has been the inspiration for a fictional character. He's been parodied in movies like "Don't Look Up" and "Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery," and he even inspired aspects of Tony Stark in the Iron Man films. Musk has named "Silicon Valley" and "Black Mirror" as some of his favorite shows.
He's also been quick to criticize other shows. He previously slammed Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" and called a gay storyline in Netflix's "Stranger Things" finale "completely unnecessary." More recently, he's taken aim at the upcoming film "The Odyssey" over its casting.
It'll be interesting to see whether Musk's comments hurt or help viewership for "The Boys" finale. Either way, the show got a reaction — and that's probably exactly what Kripke wanted.
