Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) is sounding the alarm on Chinese investment in the U.S. just ahead of a high-stakes meeting between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. His message? Letting China set up shop on American soil could be a disaster for workers.

A 'Disaster' For American Manufacturing
On Monday, Khanna took to X to voice his concerns, referencing a post by news presenter Laura Ingraham that suggested Trump and Xi might discuss a potential $1 trillion investment from Chinese enterprises into the U.S. Khanna didn't mince words.
"I went on Fox News to urge Trump not to allow China to set up subsidized factories for cars, glass, and steel in the US," Khanna said. He added that after his appeals, he was "attacked" by Trump on social media for "complaining" about Chinese steel investments. "This would be a disaster for American workers," Khanna wrote.
Lawmakers Urge Trump To Block Chinese EVs
The debate comes as industry leaders and lawmakers express growing concern about Chinese electric vehicles entering the U.S. market. Trump hinted in January that he might allow Chinese automakers to manufacture locally, but critics warn of privacy infringements and harm to U.S. businesses.
CEOs Invited To China Meet
The Trump administration has invited several top tech leaders to the summit in China, including Tesla Inc. (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk, Boeing Co. (BA) CEO Kelly Ortberg, and Apple Inc. (AAPL) CEO Tim Cook. Notably, Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang was not invited to accompany Trump.
