President Donald Trump is leaning into a rebranding idea that's been floating around social media: turning ICE into NICE. On Tuesday, he shared a mock design on Truth Social suggesting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement be renamed the "National Immigration and Customs Enforcement" — giving it the acronym NICE. The post included an eagle-and-shield emblem that looks like it could be an official federal patch.
The Department of Homeland Security got in on the action, resharing Trump's post on X with the phrase "National Immigration and Customs Enforcement." The White House then responded to DHS with just an eye emoji. Subtle.
The whole thing started with a Trump supporter who posted back in March: "I want Trump to change ICE to NICE (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement) so the media has to say NICE agents all day, every day." Trump replied on April 26, calling it a "GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT." Now he's following through with a logo.
This isn't the only rebranding on Trump's mind. Eric Trump recently unveiled a new logo for the planned renaming of Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The design — a gold eagle, stars-and-stripes crest, and the new airport name — was shared on X. Eric called it a proud tribute and said he looked forward to flights landing at "DJT."
And then there's the Pentagon. Last year, the Trump administration planned an executive order allowing the Department of Defense to use "Department of War" as a secondary title. Officials were authorized to use related titles in official communications while pursuing a permanent change. Trump has backed the idea, arguing the current name is "too defensive."
So whether it's NICE agents, DJT arrivals, or a War Department, Trump is clearly in a renaming mood. The question is: will any of these stick? For now, the internet is having fun with it.
