Ondas Holdings Inc. (ONDS) is having quite the Tuesday, with shares climbing over 14% after announcing it successfully closed an acquisition that could reshape its position in the rapidly growing counter-drone market.
The company acquired Sentry CS Ltd (Sentrycs), an Israeli firm that specializes in what's called Cyber-over-RF and Protocol-Manipulation technology. Translation: these are the folks who've figured out how to hijack unauthorized drones mid-flight without creating chaos for every other wireless device in the vicinity.
Why This Matters
Sentrycs brings something genuinely interesting to the table. Their Protocol Manipulation technology can identify, track and essentially take control of hostile drones without jamming or spoofing nearby communications networks. That's a big deal in crowded environments where you can't just blast radio frequencies and hope for the best. Think airports, stadiums, or military bases where other critical communications need to keep functioning.
The acquisition expands Ondas' global reach to over 25 countries and combines what the industry calls "hard and soft" mitigation capabilities. Basically, Ondas now offers both kinetic solutions (their Iron Drone Raider system) and cyber takeover technology, creating a layered defense approach.
Eric Brock, chairman and CEO of Ondas Holdings and co-CEO of Ondas Autonomous Systems, highlighted the strategic fit: "Sentrycs has built one of the most trusted and operationally validated cyber-C-UAS solutions in the market. With drone threats accelerating across defense, public safety and critical infrastructure sectors, we believe adding Sentrycs' leading detection and takeover technology, particularly in combination with our Iron Drone Raider, positions Ondas as one of the most capable global providers of layered counter-UAS solutions."
The Bigger Picture
This acquisition comes at a moment when Ondas has serious momentum. The company just reported record quarterly revenue last week, fueled by what it called continued execution on record-high backlog and bookings. Management even raised revenue guidance for both 2025 and 2026 during the third-quarter earnings call.
The timing makes sense. Demand for autonomous defense and security systems is accelerating, and the counter-drone market is expanding as threats become more sophisticated and widespread across military, public safety, aviation and critical infrastructure sectors.
ONDS Price Action: Ondas shares were trading up 14.31% at $7.14 at the time of publication Tuesday. Despite the rally, the stock remains about 40% below its 52-week high of $11.69.
