In what can only be described as a spectacular political breakup, President Donald Trump announced he's withdrawing his endorsement of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), one of his most steadfast allies in Congress. The split came via a late Friday Truth Social post where Trump didn't hold back, calling Greene a "lunatic" and accusing her of shifting "far left."

The Breaking Point
According to Trump's post, the relationship soured after he advised Greene against running for Senate or governor. The reason? Polling showed her support hovering around 12%. Apparently, Greene didn't take the advice well, and things deteriorated from there. Trump says he eventually stopped returning her calls altogether.
"I can't take a ranting Lunatic's call every day," Trump wrote, with his characteristic capitalization flair.
Trump labeled Greene "wacky" and complained that all she did was "COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN" despite his "record achievements" in office. It's a remarkable public rebuke of someone who's been one of his most visible congressional defenders.
Foreign Policy Becomes the Final Straw
The immediate trigger appears to be Greene's criticism that the White House was prioritizing foreign policy matters, including Syria, over domestic concerns. For Trump, who's clearly trying to rack up wins on multiple fronts, the complaint didn't land well.
Greene fired back on X Friday, stating Trump "lied about me" and claiming she hasn't even been calling him. She's framing this as retaliation for a different issue entirely.
From Loyal Ally to Public Enemy
The split is particularly striking given Greene's history of unwavering Trump support. She famously wore a MAGA baseball hat to President Joe Biden's 2024 State of the Union address, backed Trump for House speaker in 2023, and defended him through federal indictments. She's been the definition of a loyal soldier.
But recent months have shown cracks. Greene clashed with fellow Republicans during the recent government shutdown drama and has increasingly become a vocal advocate for releasing files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a scandal that continues to shadow Trump.
In her own social media posts, Greene suggested Trump is "coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next weeks vote to release the Epstein files."
"It's astonishing really how hard he's fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level," she wrote.
Whether this rift is permanent or just another chapter in the chaotic world of Trumpian politics remains to be seen. But for now, one of Trump's most reliable allies has become a very public critic, and vice versa.
